Supports for Abused Children - KW Resources

If your life is in danger, please call 911 right away or go to your nearest emergency department. If you have reason to believe that a child or youth is in need of protection or is at risk of harm, or you are looking for support for your family, call Family & Children's Services of the Waterloo Region at 519-576-0540.

Carizon - Child/Youth Quick Response Program - fully funded and confidential single-session counselling and therapeutic conversations in person, virtually or by phone.

By appointment only. Call: 519-743-6333 ext 1. This service is available to:

  • Young people under the age of 12 years with their parents/caregivers

  • Young people between 12 years old and their 18th birthday – they can attend on their own or with a parent/caregiver/support person

Carizon’s Trauma Treatment Services - provides a variety of therapeutic interventions designed to help children and youth (ages 5 – 18) and their parents overcome the negative effects of traumatic life events


Front Door - supports youth (up to their 18th birthday) who are struggling with life’s challenges such as emotions, behaviours, relationships and mental health.

Good2Talk - 24/7 counselling for post-secondary students (17-25 yrs.)

The Family Violence Project of Waterloo Region - connect with a number of essential services in a caring, supportive, and victim-centered environment. Located at 400 Queen Street South in Kitchener.

  • Police trained to deal with family violence

  • Personal counselling for adults and children

  • Assistance with developing safety plans

  • Shelters

  • Crisis/medical support for sexual assault

  • Children’s services

  • Support groups

  • Legal services
